Authentic Horse Trekking in the Altai mountains Itinerary
Pick you guys up from your hotel in Ulaanbaatar and take you to an Airport, Fly to Ulaangom Uvs province, Pick you up from Ulaangom Airport and drive to Mongolia biggest lake, stay in tourist Yurt(ger camp) with shower. Meet with you guys at airport.
Drive to Kharkhiraa Turgen Mountains, from desert landscape to snowcapped Mountains, throughout rugged and rocky terrain. Meet with horses and camels and local horsemen, preparation for the horse trekking. Dinner and campfire, stay in tent
Horse trekking through the rocks and mountains, gradually going up, epic scenery of the Altai Mountains and many layers. Camp next to the big mountains
Half day riding through a beautiful Mountains valley of Yamaat, land of snow leopard and Ibex, after the lunch, riding up to the mountains pass, height of the top is 3000M above sea level, one of the adventure of the day, biggest challenge going to beduringthe trekking, after the pass, we inter to Olon Nuur bigger valley, once used to one a big mountains formations , then splitted to two Mountains, Kharkhiraa and Turgen Mountains of Altai Mountain range. Going down a little bit, camping in an open area.
Riding through the highest part of the riding, discovering snowcapped Kharkhiraa and Turgen highest peaks, and glacier lakes, a long day riding, camping next to the Kharkhiraa Mountains of the Glacier Valley, used to be a giant glacier before, now there are still lost lot of glaciers and glacier lakes
Going around Kharkhiraa Mountains, we will see another a big glacier lake of Kharkiraa Mountains as well as Turgen Mountains, and landscape going to be rugged trails: rivers and giant rocks and some grass, foothills of the Mountains, camping next to the river and Canyons
Riding down to the mountains, and camping in the river valley called Khargait, some larch and pine trees and white fast running mountain river, a beautiful spot for camping. This day is going to be a shorter ride, and if the weather is good, the best spot for swimming and fishing, relax.
Riding through the big open mountains and valleys, passing smaller passes and reaching to foothills of the Kharkhiraa mountains, This side of the Mountains lower altitude, more scenic, camping.
This day, riding through semi-desert trails, a good place for speeding, and at the end of the day, we will reach a narrow valley with a small river(creek), camping next to the holy mountain called Boom. Local herders believe the mountain spirit is angry. Seeing off the horses and horsemen
Drive to Ölgii town, most western biggest town of Mongolia, population is 90% muslim Khazakh people, after lunch, reach the town, afternoon optional for relaxing at the camp or visit to the town. Stay in ger camp (Ger camp has the Gers for accommodate and equipped with proper beds and pubic shared toilets and shower)
Early in the morning, we will drive around 40km to the family in Sagsai Town, stay in Ger, Kazakh family. Horse trekking and hunting with eagle hunter for try to hunt fox or rabbit. And learn how to make handmade embroidery from Kazakhian housewives.
Breakfast at Family, drive back to Ölgii town around 40km, fly back to Ulaanbaatar, pick you up from an airport and drop off at the hotel in Ulaanbaatar.

Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing for horseback riding and closed-toe shoes (no sandals). Riding boots are not needed due to our stirrups. Bring warm clothes for colder evenings, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen), and a reusable water bottle.
No previous experience is required. You will receive an introductory lesson to help you learn to ride safely on mountain trails. Riders must be comfortable with varying terrain and long hours in the saddle.
This trek is designed for people of all fitness levels. However, there is a weight limit of 120 kg (260 lbs) for safety reasons.

Yes, children aged 9 and up can join the trek. Minors (ages 9-17) must be accompanied by an adult.
You will ride friendly and well-trained Mongolian horses, perfect for all experience levels. These horses are accustomed to trail riding and are great for navigating mountain paths.
Always approach the horses from their left side, as they are trained to be accustomed to people approaching from this side.
Consider bringing a lightweight rain jacket, extra batteries or a portable charger for your camera, and personal medications.
